Practicing in order to become somewhat good at sewing, that didn’t come naturally to me
As a designer it is important for Leon Lindgren to “tell” a collection, almost like the plot of a movie. He want to create an entire universe, but it is also important for him that the collection can be seen as just a group of beautiful garments. You should not be required to know the full story in order to know that you like what you see.
Embroidery, and other textile techniques play a huge part in Leon Lindgren creative process. He use thread and fabric to build pictures onto the garments he create, mostly to be able to describe the world and setting of the story he try to tell. He’s work does not only portrait a character but also an entire, fictional reality. Embroidery is the one thing he never seem to be able to let go of. For him it is the most fruitful way of describing aesthetics, it gives him a second chance to explain what he mean.
